Thanks to all who have helped me so far.
I CANNOT contact my HR department for help because if I telegraph my company in any way that I am going on disability for my back they will find a way to fire me. That is not being paranoid, that is the harsh reality and I have seen it happen.
So I really don’t know where to turn for answers except here. I live in Oregon, by law will I lose my health insurance on disability, or does Oregon have protections? COBRA is unaffordable, and no way can I get private insurance with all my conditions. I also don’t qualify for Medicaid for several years, but is Oregon different with their state laws? and allow you Medicaid and disability payments at same time even if under age 65?
Once I am on long term disability, am I going to be forced off disability payments at age 63 and must get Social Security?
Can I get disability from my work (which I have paid into for years) plus Social Security at the same time? I wish I could have these questions easily answered by HR but they are snakes and they will find ways to terminate me rather than let me have my benefits.
Should I get an attorney first before I even file for disability? We all know the company is going to deny my benefits right off the bat. Thank you to any one who takes time to answer.
