Picking a plan through CoveredCA: Kaiser Bronze 60 HMO vs Kaiser Bronze 60 HDHP HMO

Hello,

My husband and I are both renewing health plans for 2021 and I wanted to confirm whether sticking with my plan (Kaiser Bronze 60 HDHP HMO) would be the best option. I want to stay with Kaiser and both of us (27F and 33M) are relatively healthy, no major problems foreseen at present, so we’re looking at the lowest premium plans offered through CoveredCA.

Premiums are 247.77 for the Bronze 60 HMO and 243.81 for the Bronze 60 HDHP HMO so no major difference there.

Bronze 60 HMO: Deductible $6300 (Indiv)/$500, OOP $8200 (Indiv), PCP First 3 visits $65 copay before deductible, Specialist $95 Copay after deductible, No Charge for Preventive Care/Screening. Lab $40 Copay, X-rays 40% Coins after deductible. Generic Drugs $18 copay after deductible. ER 40% Coinsu after deductible.

Bronze 60 HDHP HMO: Deductible $7000 (Indiv), OOP $7000 (Indiv), PCP/Specialist 0% Coins after deductible. No charge for Preventive Care/Screening. Lab/X-rays/Drugs/ER, etc. 0% Coins after deductible.

Could you give me a general breakdown of what sort of costs/care I’d be looking at in general with these plans? Are they ok plans? Should I continue with the HDHP?

Thank you.
