My old insurance used to cover my prescription but my new insurance (Cigna) denied it because there are not enough studies that show it works for my condition. This drug is the only thing that has 100% worked for me since I’ve been on it. My doctor has appealed the denial but the process is taking a month and I don’t have enough medication to last me and the effects of not being on it will be detrimental. I will basically lose all my hair (alopecia). My doctor requested for expedited appeal but that was also denied bc Cigna said I basically will not die. Has anyone been in my situation and have any tips on what I can do to help quicken or plead my case besides filing appeals and waiting 30 days and then 60 days if I have to appeal again and then finally relying on an external third party. I already halved my medication and hoping my hair doesn’t fall out. I remember earlier this year between covid vaccine shots I didn’t take my meds for one week and all the hair that grew back started immediately falling out over a process of 4-5 months without regrowth and then stagnant for 3 months and then started to regrow. It was horrible and traumatizing. Any help would be appreciated!
