45, 77707, $140,000 (combined income) Hello all! I’m having an issue with my health insurance I’ve never encountered and don’t know how to resolve.
I’ve had a Medicare Advantage Plan (Humana) for the past five years due to disability. For the past two years I have additionally been on my husband’s employer-sponsered HSA (BCBS TX). I added the private insurance to increase my access to the specialty drugs I need. This system has worked well until about six weeks ago.
Suddenly, BCBS -my primary insurer- is rejecting all of my medical claims, saying they are not my primary. For some context, I am under age 65, disabled, and my husband’s employer is greater than 100 people. By law, BCBSTX has to be my primary. And they’ve always paid my claims until just a few weeks ago.
Every time I call to sort it out, it goes the same way. Customer Service: Oh, that’s weird. You’re right. We are the primary insurance of record. Okay, tell Healthcare Provider X to refile the claim.
I am very, very ill. I have at least one appointment a week, often more. This is wearing me down. Sometimes my cognition is affected and I’m in no shape to handle this, but more and more bills keep getting kicked back to me.
This is a BCBSTX problem, but they are making it a me problem, plus the doctors I rely on for care are not being paid as they ought to be. Does anyone have any ideas how to solve this problem once and for all?
