23F on Fidelis Medicaid (NY). I have chronic constipation. My pediatrician when I was younger has taken X-rays of my bowels and I was prescribed miralax for many years. I hadn’t seen a doctor until recently and I told him about my chronic constipation and how I’ve tried pretty much all the over counter options such as miralax, senna tablets, Metamucil .. then he prescribed me linzess because he suspects that I have IBS and the over the counter stuff can he harsh on the stomach. I’ve recently been taking the senna tablets and they are very harsh on the stomach and sometimes they don’t work. I haven’t pooped in a week and today I finally did and it was small hard pebbles. I’ve been like this for years. The insurance company told me that I needed a prior authorization and then they denied it saying that I need documentation and doctor notes saying that I’ve tried Metamucil which is their preferred medication. I have a huge bottle of this from months ago that I stopped taking because it makes me painfully bloated. What can I do to get the Linzess approved? Do I have to take Metamucil again? 🙁
