Qualified for special enrollment on Marketplace, but lost subsidy?

I applied to the Marketplace before Dec. 15 originally, but for various reasons, I didn’t choose my plan before the deadline for open enrollment. If I had, I would have gotten subsidized, and paid little or nothing for the lowest tier plans.

As it happens, I qualified for the special enrollment period. I submitted the necessary paperwork and was approved. However, now when I look at the plans, I no longer have a subsidy, and must pay full price.

Did I do something wrong, or does the special enrollment period mean subsidies are lost?
