Ok stay with me while I try and explain this issue. I am 38 years old. The state is California. About five years ago I was diagnosed with a health problem that put me in the hospital/ICU 6-9 times a year. I went on disability. My Moms company who she has worked for 42 years has amazing benefits. Because my parents are divorced and my Mom didn’t have a second person (husband) she needed to insure her company allowed her to insure me as a dependent. I was on disability but under the dependent category, so she could claim me on her taxes. Because she also owned a business and needed as many write offs as she could get. In 12/18 she found me in my room in complete respiratory distress. I wasn’t expected to survive, but I did. After spending 6 weeks in a coma in ICU, and another month in a step down unit. After that medical event checks started coming from the insurance company made out to her, but they were to pay my doctors. I don’t know why the insurance company didn’t do direct pay. But there were a lot of checks and a lot of money. Instead of paying the doctors/hospitals my Mom cashed the checks and kept the money. Her reasoning was that it doesn’t matter if I have good credit because she is paying for me and getting me everything I want/need. Well fast forward to now. A year ago she kicked me out, sold her house. Moved to Florida, bought a house there and a house in Anguilla. Her Mom, my grandma has passed away and she inherited multi millions of dollars. Plus she has an incredibly big 401K and great retirement plan. So now I’m getting sued by a ton of doctors and she is living the good life. Not to mention I’m having trouble with everything because my credit sucks now. Is there anything I can do to change these bills into her name because I was a dependent. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know her social security number so I wouldn’t have any problems giving them all her info. I’m just at a total loss. And we know she is in FL but don’t have her phone number or address because I think she knows she could get in trouble with this situation and a tax scheme with the now closed business. Any advice is welcomed.
