Question about in/out of network procedure

Ok so I decided to go to a gastroenterologist to finally find out what’s been wrong with my stomach (been having issues on and off for years especially during times of high stress) and I scheduled an endoscopy. Well I called my insurance company and they said the place they scheduled the procedure at was out of network so I better get it scheduled at a place in network if I didn’t want to pay 1000’s of dollars.

So today the doctors office called me back and said that even though the facility is out of network it would be billed in network. This confused me because it was the opposite of what my insurance said. They seemed to say that they’d negotiate with my insurance to get it covered as in network, even though it’s not. In order to confirm this I called the place where I’m scheduled to have my endoscopy and they confirmed I would only pay $100 at the time of the procedure.

I just feel weird that my insurance said something different than they did and I don’t wanna get hit with a surprise bill.
