I am trying to get my mom a health insurance at the moment so i called blue cross blue shield. My mom isn’t working and my dad doesn’t have my mom on his insurance because it’s costly but because they’re married the guy from bcbs told me there’s a penalty of $600 that’ll come out of his tax returns in 2021. FYI his yearly income last year was $25k and they live in TX. Can someone explain how this works please?
