Seeking Advice for $10k in Dental Work in January

Hi Everyone! I live in Florida, and am currently on a Healthcare.gov plan that includes dental insurance through Delta (one year of coverage has passed, so I should be able to avoid waiting periods if upgrading), but it doesn’t cover advanced procedures at all (gym/bone grafts and wisdom tooth extractions, all which I have coming up in next year).

I’m currently trying to renew in the way that will cover as much of my dental expenses as possible. My first surgery is January 18th for $5,000, and then I’ll be moving over to my employer’s insurance on January 20th.

Should I double up on dental insurance, or is that even possible? My agent has advised I enroll in a plan that costs $44 a month and will cover 60% of my fees for the year up to $5,000 for what I need done, but I’m wondering if I can also enroll in additional dental with my employer as well to try and cover the rest?

It’s all very confusing, even for my insurance agent, so I figured I’d reach out here for any insight I may have overlooked. Thanks so much in advance for any insight offered!
