We’re moving from the UK back to the US in about a month. Was hoping to start a new job in early May & need short term insurance to cover the gap.
Are there any decent options?
Couple (mid-30’s) + baby (16 months). Ohio – 44708. US citizens. No major health concerns or medications needed.
I thought about stretching travel insurance from the UK – we could claim we didn’t plan on staying originally and still reside in the UK – between flats and job? No return ticket though so that’s likely not going to fly if scrutinised, and ignoring having to fly back for any major/longterm care.
Could take the punt and go without, but that sounds pretty terrifying.
COBRA won’t work since my current job isn’t US based, I believe?
Would some of the various short term (3-6month) plans work, and allow me to bail early? From reading on here they seem unregulated and super dodgy/unhelpful – is that universally the case?
I miss the NHS already 😅
Thanks!
