Should I dual insure if my husband already has private insurance and VA benefits?

I am starting a new job soon and I need some help understanding whether I should pick a healthcare plan that covers me, my spouse, and our minor child, or if I should just choose self plus one and add just our minor child.

My husband is already insured with his employer as well as has VA benefits. Our child and I are on his plan, but we all still pay co-pays on hospital deductibles except for him if he utilizes the VA for any healthcare services.

My husband isn’t in the best of health. He does receive some services from doctors outside the VA and has been hospitalized in non VA hospitals in the past and we have had to pay the hospitalization deductibles out of pocket.

Would it eliminate co-pays and out of pocket expenses if I added him onto my healthcare plan as well, or would I spend less money just choosing a plan for myself and our child?

Thanks in advance for all your guidance, Reddit!
