I was talking to my sister and she mentioned she didn’t get health insurance through her job, I was like “ah so you got Obamacare?” she said “no I just don’t have insurance” and I told her that that’s pretty bad and she should probably go get some now. She had just moved so I told her maybe she would qualify for a special enrollment period. But she hadn’t had health insurance for probably like 5 months or so. She told me that she was able to sign up for it, it asked her if she had had insurance in the previous 60 days or whatever and she said no but it allowed her to get a plan anyway.
Is this normal? Is it possible that something was changed because of the pandemic? Everything I read says you need to have had health insurance before. I just want to make sure she actually has coverage now.
