Social Security: Health Insurance

Can anyone confirm this?

My insurance through my employer will be ending next month. I have surgery a few days before and insurance approved. My surgery is out of state.

Once my surgery is finished, my insurance will be expired. I need to do follow up labs and medication but will not have insurance.

I googled Obamacare and called a number that popped up so I can sign up for an individual plan and a lady picked up. She was lovely and listened to my situation shared on above and she said “I don’t to sell you a plan you don’t need.”

She told me on the day after my surgery, to tell my nurse to call social security at the hospital to come up to my room and explain the situation. Then they will take my information and I will be covered.

I asked her if this is true and she confirmed because of my situation.

Is this true? Never heard of this.
