Surgery Center Fees

Hi all. I’m not sure if anyone will be able to help me with this or help me understand – but I’m extremely distraught. So I am in my 20’s, and have to have tailor’s bunion surgery because I literally cannot wear most shoes and it’s causing my to have hammertoes. I will also be bluntly honest, I don’t know a whole lot about insurance in general and haven’t really been able to find anyone to explain. Anyway, I knew I was going to have to pay my deductible, which was $1000 -which is extremely steep for me. Like that is more than my rent. I have $5 in my bank account right now, but I got it paid. (Financial plans were not an option from what I was told).

So surgery is November 1st. Today October 27th I get a call from the surgery center saying I owe them over $1000+ on top of what I’ve paid. The only “payment plan” option they have is Care Credit which I do not qualify for. I don’t know what to do. I’ve reached out to my insurance to find out why I’m being charged another fee when I paid my deductible. This $1000+ is due Monday and they called me at 5:00pm today to tell me this. And as far as I know it’s in network, but honestly everyone is giving me the run around so it’s confusing me more. I just feel so fucked. I don’t go to the doctor even though I have insurance because I can’t afford it. And my feet got so bad I had no other option. Like is cancelling the surgery and getting my deductible I paid back an option? I’m so distraught I have been debating on going inpatient…but can’t afford that either ha!! I feel so stupid for not knowing more about any of this and honestly feel just scammed.
