I got a Tdap vaccine today at Walgreens and insurance partially covered it. Insurance paid for the vaccine, but didn’t pay for the administration so I had to pay $21 out of pocket.
The strange thing is the BCBS covered in full for my spouse who got the same vaccine at the doctor’s office.
So I’m wondering why? Is it because Walgreens is out of network from my BCBS PPO? Or because Walgreens submitted to Caremark PBM and not to BCBS? Any suggestions or insight would be great as this has been bugging me.
