Thinking about going from full-time to part-time employment, will lose my health care benefits as a PT employee, will this qualify as a life event?

I live in CA. So as the title states, I’m thinking about changing my employment status from full-time (36 hours), to part-time (24 hours) so that I may increase my course load and better focus on finishing school. I’m 26 so I don’t qualify as a dependent anymore.

This would be my choice so would this not qualify as a life event when enrolling for either state issued health insurance or possibly being added on my boyfriend’s health insurance as a domestic partner outside the open enrollment period; and also as a special circumstance event for financial aid.

Any advice or insights would be appreciated.

ETA: I have no dependents and annual income was $38k in 2020 but in 2021 it was $35k (kinda miss those new pandemic bonuses lol)
