Hello! We’ve never done this before, so apologies in advance for the stupid question.
My husband’s last day of work with his former employer (with employee health insurance) is August 13. His new employer doesn’t offer insurance, so we need to shop the ACA Marketplace.
What is the exact timing we should follow? How soon after going through the signup process on the ACA Marketplace does your plan go into force? Can you sign up for an ACA plan a few days in advance even though you’re still technically covered by the employer insurance? In other words: when exactly should I hop on the Marketplace website and get it all done?
