Healthy mid 30’s female here. Self employed; went on ACA insurance for $20/month last year. I’m now making too much and no longer eligible (around 90,000). The cheapest plan on the marketplace is $600 a month for a high deductible plan. That comes out to $7200/year, plus a $10,000 deductible I would need to meet before seeing any benefit. Basically, a minimum of $17,200 would have to be spent, at a very limited selection of doctors, before getting partial reimbursement.
My boyfriend and I are not planning on having kids this year (have none now). I literally only go to the gynecologist for an annual ($300 out of pocket) and the dermatologist (can skip a year, I just went). I work in rehab and know how to fix most of my own injuries.
I would really love a plan at a more reasonable price, like 100-200 a month, but those don’t exist in my area.
Can anyone give me some advice or feedback? I’m really not sure what to do.
