Turning 26 and going back to school full time.

Back story, I have currently been employed for 3 years with my company in Arizona but elected to not get health insurance through them as I’ve got better options under my parents. I intend to leave my position in the next month to attend Flight School full time (6months) and then work as a 1099 employee for a year and a half till I can be employed with an airline. Would it be possible to have a life event where I enroll in benefits with my current employer and then quit my job all within a month to claim Cobra? Should I look into HealthCare.gov? I would like to avoid being without coverage. Any insight would be appreciated!
