Turning 26 and my health insurance is a mess

I’m turning 26 at the end of the year and still a student, working part time. So I was thinking about taking the school’s insurance. But I was thinking about going to a highly recommended gyn specialist before I go off my parents’ insurance, because I’m pretty sure I have endometriosis and wanted to make sure. But I didn’t know I needed a referral. I haven’t had a PCP in years so I can’t get a referral. Is going to a specialist something I can do on student health insurance? I would just get any old exam but I wanted to ensure I had a good experience due to my exam anxiety. I haven’t been yet because of the anxiety and my parents didn’t want me going for religious reasons.

If this should go in another subreddit let me know.
