Was signing up for insurance the right thing?

My senior mom was on my dad’s employer health insurance plan until he quit his job due to age and COVID risks.

My mom then went on unpaid leave of absence with her own job and signed up for health insurance through the employer. But they ended eligibility for coverage after 3 months since she didn’t have the work hours to support the insurance anymore and was then offered COBRA.

5 months later – We signed her up with healthcare.gov and using 100% of the tax subsidy. Is she eligible in this case? Just want to make sure because I know if she returned to work, she could get insurance through her employer again but she can’t right now because of COVID.
