I went to an in-network ER and was treated by an out-of-network doctor. I was sent home without being admitted. There’s no history of the doctor submitting a claim to my insurance and no EOB received from that doctor by my insurance. The doctor specifically states on the hospitals website that he is affiliated with the hospital I went to (and several other hospitals in the area) but does not accept regence blue shield (my insurance). I’ve read online that as far as ER visits go, patients pay in-network prices even if treated by an out-of-network doctor. Then I’ve read the exact opposite. What should I do and what options do I have?
EDIT: I received a $1,500 bill from the doctor for an ER Exam.
