What can I do about a provider that hit me with a huge out of network bill because they bill under a Tax ID # different than the doctors NPI and individual tax ID #?

So basically what happened is I bought into a new plan (anthem bronze pathway x HMO 5500) at the beginning of the year because they listed my pain management doctors name and NPI # as being in network. Then I suddenly got hit with 2000$ of cash pay billing this month because suddenly he is NOT actually in network like anthem said he would be. I called the doctors office to find out WHY this is and their response is that they bill Anthem with a different TAX ID…. the name of the practice he owns apparently is under a different tax ID than him individually… So now suddenly I’ve been tricked for two office visits now and a total cash pay bill of 2000$ when a doctor I thought was in network for me now suddenly is not in network at all. I feel like this is somehow illegal billing behavoir… do I have any recourse in this matter given what happened? What should I do? I can’t afford that huge bill right now and was completely not anticipating this happening.
