When do medical procedures count towards your plan year?

So my new born is having a ton of stuff done to him, long story. Hopefully he will be out before my plan year ends at the end of this month.

My question is at the end of this month, my max out of pocket goes back to 6.5k and i have a feeling the insurance company is going to try and charge some of the stuff happening RIGHT NOW to next years plan.. So can i fight that since the all the actual medical stuff took place in the previous plan year?

Obviously next month any new medical visits or if he is still in the hospital i would accept. It just seems like anything happening now should all go towards to THIS plan year regardless of when it’s billed.

I’ve googled this to death and can’t find anything, or maybe not searching right.

Just looking for any advice on what i should do, i was already told to save ALL EOB and bils from hospital so we are currently doing that.

Thanks for any help you can offer.
