Why did my insurance drop me?

Hello!

So I’m on my dad’s insurance, and I turned 26 in September.

I’m in California, and I was appealing to be filed under the “extended care” law, where I can stay on my dad’s I durante indefinitely if I have a documented disability I am receiving ongoing medical care for.

When I called the insurance company, they told me that I needed to speak to my dad’s union in order to be filed under that law, and that the union would inform them if I was eligible or not based on their records. I went through the union, provided the necessary paperwork, and was told I would be covered, all done by the end of September.

I got a call from my doctor’s last week, telling me my insurance dropped me in July, and that all bills from that period were my responsibility.

I have contacted the insurance and the union, and no one has ANY idea why I was dropped in July. My understanding is that if I was going to get dropped for turning 26, I would be dropped in October, since my birthday was in September?

And my father has been paying the insurance premium while I’ve been dropped.

Is there any reason besides a little fucky wucky uwu that the insurance would drop me months before I turned 26? I’m worried that if they dropped me for a legitimate reason, they won’t pay the outstanding doctor’s bills from July-present.

Insurance is being SUPER tight lipped about this, and also has provided very little information on how to get back to being covered 🙃 and I am unable to see the doctor in the meantime.
