Why pay $200+ per month for no coverage?

I am unemployed (aside from Doordashing) in Atlanta Georgia living with my friend. I am an active and healthy 27yo man. I have been looking for work for a while now out of college. The absolute cheapest healthcare coverage I could find from HealthCare.gov is over $200, and it covers absolutely nothing and has a $8,500+ deductible. Im afraid to look around more because the whole industry seems so scammy and does not leave you alone if you reach out. My friend is covering it for me, and of course I feel terrible that I owe that to them, but even worse is that it seems like there is no point. Initially I figured I had to have coverage because the government requires it. But then I read that maybe there isnt a penalty anymore? My questions are:

Why is the cheapest option over $200?

Why would I even use this if there is no gov penalty and the $8,500 deductible would screw me anyway?

What do I do? Should I stop paying all this money for no coverage?
