My wife is leaving her job and she won’t be able to get insurance for 6 to 8 months….I elected to have a lower deductible plan 2 months ago with my work because we didn’t know she wouldn’t have health insurance. I know I can add her to my plan since it’s a change of life, but am I able to switch my plan to the higher deductible option (even if that resets my deductible)?
The rate for me + a spouse for the low deductible is pretty crazy with my employer. Since they only cover 50% of spouses. I called the general help line for my health insurance and they just told me to talk to my companies administrator.
