Marketplace insurance but was eligible for employer

I’m in a bit of a bind. I turned down my job’s insurance because I am not a FT employee and the coverage they offer PRN staff is impossible to afford. I didn’t realize that the job offered insurance that met ‘standard minimum value’ until after the enrollment period. I called my HR dept, they didn’t know if their coverage met “standard minimum value” and the marketplace assistant said to just sign up for marketplace insurance since my HR dept said they didn’t know. After my job’s enrollment period was over, my HR dept informed me that the plan DID meet “standard minimum value”. But at that point I have already signed up for marketplace insurance with credits. I have a broken hand and will need surgery in the next few weeks. I don’t know if I should cancel my marketplace insurance and hope the IRS doesn’t think I purposely scammed them or keep my plan, get my hand fixed and hope for the same. It’s too late to sign up for job coverage so if I cancel marketplace, I will not have any insurance to cover the cost of fixing my hand. Any suggestions on what I should do? What will happen when the IRS finds out my mistake?
