My job has long-term disability and I’ll get approx $66,000 per year. I know this sounds like a lot but I live in a major expensive city and my apartment is $2000 per month, and I don’t want to lose my apartment.
I’m really worried about how to pay for health insurance since it sounds like that will eat up a lot of my disability benefit amount. Good health insurance in the marketplace is about $1000/month (I get a $14,000 infusion treatment every 3 weeks and see doctors CONSTANTLY so I will need GOOD health insurance).
Are there any special health insurance discounts for people receiving long-term disability? I really don’t want to give up my apartment.
I’m 40 and my zip code is 10009
