Employee cost and my actual deduction not matching. Any idea of what it can be?

I have United Healthcare PPO, a good plan. $10 for visits, deductible for family is $1500. It works. According to the chart on employee contribution it says I should be paying $312 / month for me and my kids but I noticed my paycheck has a bi-weekly deduction of only $86. So that’s $172 a month. I went back all paycheck and before I added my child, I should have been paying a little over $100 per month but every two weeks it was only $23. I just got married and adding my husband (independent contractor without benefits) says it would bring my current plan from $312 to $919 per month. Ouch. But I’m not even getting the $312 deducted. Just $172. Any idea what this could be about? Maybe a lucky payroll issue that has been going on for over 3 years. I’m obviously not stoked about going from that to $919 after adding him 😆
