First Time Getting Insurance

Hello, I am finally able to get health insurance through my employer after one year of employment. I just can’t seem to figure out what the best option for me is. I am in Texas.

My employer is offering a premium of $115 per pay period (every two weeks). I only make $15/hr so this is kind of expensive as I have other bills and student loans that money could be going towards.

I applied for insurance through the marketplace. I was eligible for tax credit of $140 towards monthly premium. I thought I could take $100 to make sure I wouldn’t owe too much on taxes when I file in 2021. That made the premium affordable for me at about $146/month, but now I found out my employer will pay for half of my premium if I decide to get coverage outside of work by reimbursing on my check.

Now I’m debating wether I should pay full price (about $246) for my premium and not use the tax credit so I don’t end up having to pay too much on taxes or if I should just get coverage through my employer.

I’m lost. I need advice.
