I just got a new job and my wife and I are trying to figure out if we should choose one of the ones my company offers or one that hers offers.
We are a family of 4 (39m, 38f, 9m, 7f).
Company A
PPO option
Premium: 525/month Deductible: $600/$1200 Out of Pocket Max: $3900/$7800
All preventative screenings and visits are free
There aren’t any copays. This one offers coinsurance where we pay 20% of the negotiated price.
HDHP
Premium: $326/month Deductible : $3,000 Out of Pocket Max: $4500/$9000
All preventative screenings and visits are free.
Again there aren’t any copays. This one offers coinsurance where we pay 20% of the negotiated price.
This one comes with an HSA that my employer will make a $1000 contribution. Comes with the tax benefits as well both now (using pre tax dollars to fund) and later when you use the money, plus all the interest earned on the account is tax free.
Company B
PPO option
Premium: $1142/month Deductible: $500/1000 Out of Pocket Max: $1500/3000
Copay PCP- $10 Specialist -$20 Hospital – $100 Urgent – $50
HDHP option
Premium: $792/month Deductible: $1500/$3000 Out of pocket Max: $3200/6400
CoPay Same as the PPO
The company will contribute 2000 towards the HSA.
What’s really throwing us off is how vastly different the insurances are that the two companies are offering and there’s not really a medium it’s either super high premium and low cost of service or low premium and high cost of service.
Anyones advice would be well appreciated and please let me know if I forgot to include information.
Thanks in advance!!
