Hello 👋
I enrolled in a marketplace Aetna HMO this year and I couldn’t receive my insurance card until the middle of January because Aetna messed up my enrollment process. I saw a specialist on January 4th, 2022, and I had some blood test work done. When I checked out at the specialist’s office, I self-paid (didn’t pay for the lab work) because my member ID was assigned by Aetna yet.
Now, I have my insurance card, and the billing of the lab work has been processed through Aetna because Aetna mentions that coverage of my plan has started from the beginning of January. This is also written on my insurance card. Does anyone know that I’m eligible to request a reimbursement of the self-pay that I made on January 4th? If so, should I talk to Aetna or the hospital’s billing department? I have the receipt of my payment.
Thank you so much for your help🙏
