Hello all!
It’s open season, and going to have a child in the next year (added to my insurance in March 22). Kaiser is no longer an option (grr,,,), and keeping my full Anthem PPO would be about $2,000 per year (versus fully paid for by employer). They also have a PPO-HSA option, which has a family deductible of $5600 (but fully paid for by employer)
Here is my question, with the first year of the kid’s life obviously having 5-8+ appointments, would the PPO-HSA option be stupid? Does Anthem in this case still negotiate down the price before you pay towards that deductible. (ex: the doctor bills $800, anthem negotiates to $400, and that’s what you pay).
I was planning to do Kaiser, so now that’s not an option and I feel lost haha. I’m just wondering if I’m delusional to think “oh I won’t even hit the $5600 deductible”
One extra note: My employer contributes $1000 to the HSA for free each year too.
