Medi-Cal + LA Care question: how hard is it to get into a particular group?

I just got Medi-Cal, and I submitted my enrollment for LA Care (they said it would take a few days to approve). According to the hospital where I have a surgery scheduled, I have to be in a particular group, Health Care LA IPA, in order for my surgery to be covered.

Does anyone know how hard it is to be added to a particular group? I asked DPSS, but they said they had to get me approved for LA Care first before getting any info about groups.

Time is of the essence as my surgery is at the end of this month, so I thought I’d ask Reddit if this is an easy process, or if there’s waiting lists, waiting periods, etc.

Thanks for any info about this process!
