I have a bronze Obamacare plan (Molina specifically) with a 50% co-pay after an $8,000 deductible. I don’t like facilitating payments to this company so they can lobby against my interests, but my parents asked me to get it just in case, so that balanced out.
This morning, I actually tried to get some healthcare. I went to one of the low-cost clinics in my neighborhood. Their system automatically flagged that I had “insurance”, and because I have insurance, what would be a subsidized, zero-cost appointment is instead like $200+.
If I get sick on this plan, I’m going to have to forgo treatment or file for bankruptcy anyway. It’s a liability. To hell with this whole industry.
So, quick question, if I go on the marketplace and cancel this, am I going to be on the hook for any surprise payments? I mean, everything else about this has been a scam…
