Why did I get dropped from employee sponsored health plan?

I work for a state government agency. One of the main draws of this job is decent health insurance. Today I was going to pick up an Rx at WM and was a little surprised that I was being charged for it. I hit my max out of pocket in Nov, but figured WM just didn’t realize that state plans run from July to July.

The pharmacy tech told me that they didn’t have my plan on file and couldn’t find any plan under my name. I call anthem and they say my plan lapsed on 2/1. The CSR asked if I was still employed. I told her I had just been in on Sunday, and if something had changed I wasn’t aware of it.

I get paid tomorrow and my paystubs get posted a few days early. I’ve paid the premium for this month. I’ve called HR and left a message, but they had left for the day when I called. My boss knows both about this kind of stuff and can’t help.

I’m going to talk to HR tomorrow, but does anyone know why this happened and what issues I could run into.
