Hi all, just trying to see if this is common or something I should fight against.
Our daughter was born last year in December. The cost of delivery was like $35K +, so we obviously instantly hit our max deductible ($3,000), and the rest was covered by insurance. I feel very fortunate about that, I know others aren’t as fortunate with delivery costs.
But, 6 months go by and we get hit with a bill from the hospital – on it you can clearly see a charge back done by the insurance company where they are no longer covering $1500 of the costs. We called and their explanation was that “as soon as our baby was born, our deductible instantly increased to $4500, as a family > 2”. This seems wild to me. I guess TECHNICALLY true, but it was for delivery costs related to my wife.
Is this normal? Any advice here?
