-Before I go into detail, the owner of my fiances job has emailed the lady who does our work health insurance to see what can be done about my issue. I just wanted to ask here because I’m freaking out.
So my children were on their fathers (my fiancé) health insurance through his job. I recently started a new job and after my meeting with HR I was given single and family prices and made the decision to add them to my health insurance. I was told to have their other insurance end on 11/1/2021 as that’s when my Insurance would begin and we can’t afford to pay for family coverage through both jobs.
My fiancé’s boss got in touch with who he needed to and their coverage ended 11/1/2021 as mine should have started. I get a call today that HR made a mistake and my family coverage would cost $600+ more a month than I was originally told. Said it was an “honest mistake”. And asked me if I still wanted them to process this and have it come out of my checks. I declined as I could not afford this and they said sorry but good luck.
My question is, is there a way for my children to get back on the insurance that ended for them 3 days ago? Or will I have to wait until the open enrollment period for his job (January)?
Also, they don’t qualify for Medicaid/CHIP because of their fathers income.
